I hated using a ladle...Let me add one other thing.. I hated using a ladle, too messy and fiddling with the funnel. Yoou need'em for salsa or sauce but for pickles or pressure canned where you need to fill the jar with hot brine or water or broth.. My homegrown fruit canning usually coincides with my going back to work, sadly. I wish the apples and nectarines would ripen earlier dang it!
