Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

Dog sloth

Our number one dog, Titan, has been hanging out in the living room.  He's had enough of the puppy shenanigans so he got a reverse time out and some peace and quiet.

I love this picture of Titan snuggling with Wolfie the dog toy.

We also want to reinforce Dog#1's status as the number one dog. We do this by giving him special privileges - like spending extra time and being close to us. Remember there is no "fair" in the dog world - only the hierarchy that they need and understand. Dog1 is dog number one and there is no further discussion. This helps organize and manage our "pack."

Titan really likes to sleep on a dog bed. Kai The Destroyer systematically disemboweled all of the dog beds so we put a new bed in the living room for Ti and let him sleep there. The rest of the no-good-nicks are sleeping on easy-to-wash blankets. Or in ridiculous ways.....

Zander and Lucky tend to sprawl all over the floor.
We've been trying to make sure that the pup gets plenty of rest. But sometimes he's like a little kid who plays so much he gets over tired.  Then he sleeps so hard he wakes up and is still delirious. Its very cute.
At this writing Titan is sleeping at my feet and is chasing something in his sleep. It doesn't matter how big they get, sleep-running dogs are the best. I hope he catches whatever he's chasing. Shh.. I don't want to wake him up.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Are you all enjoying your week off?

So cute! Years ago I caught my young horse sleep running and neighing softly! It is adorable in any species, at any age.

Good mercy! Xander is almost as big as Lucky!
Rio is all about some dog sloth! He has 2 speeds - all in or passed out.

I LOVE that you guys so get docks need a properly structured pack. A dog who knows his place in the pack is a happy, well-behaved dog (well...mostly :D )

Your dogs look very happy and properly spoiled. Great job.

Ahhh cute. :o) I made some homemade dog treats yesterday (easy peasy) and puppy is loving them (she was very picky before). I moved her dog crate into kitchen (at your advice) so she could 'watch' me since it was snowing all day and she needed entertaining. I am gradually letting her out of the crate more and more but she still goes nuts and wants to 'herd' all our kitties, which doesn't go over well with all the geriatrics. She's 6 months old now and beginning to calm down a bit, can't wait til she gets older!

We do that here, too... make sure everyone gets individual attention... sometimes the pugs claim too much. Zander is getting HUGE!

Spending my week puppy potty training, unsuccessfully so far. The crate training has been a total success though.

Kai the Destroyer...dogs and cats (posse) living together...sounds like a movie!

Wow, Free, I hadnt thought about horses sleep-running. How fun!

I know, AL, can you believe it?! Give Rio hugs.

Thanks BFMF, yep we run a tight ship. Might as well work with their nature than against it.

Hi Tracey! Just keep working that pup - a tired pup is a good pup.
:-)

Thanks Ginny, yes I'm finally getting some rest. But just a little.

Hey Lori! Don't forget I'm on FB...and thanks for the good wishes! Go Bacon!

Hi Mary Ann, right now Zander's head is really growing - its hilarious because its hard for him to hold it up sometimes. ha!

Thanks Tammy! I grant you this week OFF...except for, you know, chores and farm stuff. ;-)

hey CC - just keep taking that adorable pup out. Ever hour if you need to. Say.. Kai the Destroyer and The Insane Posse.. "no matter who wins, we all loose".. I think we are on to something...

I totally support the pack mentality! It's what makes sense to dogs.

Week off? huh... I'm sitting here waiting for news that the train line is open after a car meets train wreck. THEN I can go to the office. Oh Boy! Never thought of the pack like that... good to know.

You know it Jody... it just plain works. We've got a great pack. Yesterday we did some howling, so much fun!

Oh no, Dave, sorry to hear about the commute woes. Things are looking rough out there for me... looks like the geese and the turkeys may have had a pile up. ;-)
