Fresh tilled soil.
Most of the work I did was prepping my extremely bad soil. I've been adding lime by the bucketful and tilling it in. I was able to get about a third of the upper garden limed and fertilized before it rained - which was perfect.
Yesterday we had another super work day. We got some "wait until a sunny day" work done - including pulling all the taps from our maple trees. We did not have a great harvest but were glad for the 3 pints that we got.
There will be dill... oh yes.
I also started a lot of trays of seeds. The lettuce that I started last week didn't make it past the sprout up stage. On the warmest day last week I forgot to open up the greenhouse. So the poor sprouts were roasted...and then that nite was the coldest so then they got frozen. They didn't have a chance. From now on I really need to keep an eye on the temperature in there.
In other news, today I'm going to be planting potatoes.

I'm enjoying following your veg plot work, seeing as how we aren't even dug over in our veggie garden yet! But by reading your blog I do feel involved in veggie growing for 2015 even if it is reading about what you are getting up to! I would have planted dill as well!

looking to get out there this weekend!
I am so afraid to plant things early. I'm zone 5 in NW PA - what happens to the potatoes if it frosts? Will they get chilled and wet and rot? Do you have to harvest early or can they wait until fall if you need? Sorry for all the questions - I would love to get out there in the dirt but need a little push!
Get right out there Cottontail! How about do "some" and not all? That way if it works you are ahead and if it doesnt then you haven't lost that much? That's how I look at it. I mulch my taters so deeply that they have never rotted or frozen. In fact sometimes I find taters from the previous year and they are just fine. Some have even grown the next year. I would say you are no more than 2 weeks behind where I am so give it a go! :-)
