Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

'Scuse Me While I Kiss This Pie

Let's be clear about one thing. If it's not chocolate then I barely acknowledge it. Sure I like this pie, and this one, and this one.... but seriously. My favorite flavor of anything is chocolate.

It's so beautiful!  And delicious.

So you can imagine my surprise when I fell in love this Maple Sugar Tart. Really in love... like " 'scuse me while I kiss this pie" in love...

I might have narrowly avoided burning down the house the other day and I managed to save the maple syrup I had been finishing on the stove. I quickly cooled the molten lava... I mean syrup... but I was afraid it would turn to "candy" and ruin my dreams of french toast. So I added some cream to some of it hoping to cool it even more.  But then what? I had to use it up - and fast. So I consulted 'the google' and found this tart. You have to try it.

True to it's claim that the tart would be ready to bake - crust and all - by the time the oven heated... this was indeed the easiest tart I've ever made. And the most delicious.

Just stunning.

It's like everything you love about pecan pie without the bothersome nuts. Plus, it's just beautiful. Mine finished in about 35 minutes and was just gorgeous. Be warned tho, I can't imagine this turning out with any of that fake syrup. You have to use the real McCoy.

In case you are wondering, yes, it is a breakfast food.

Fortunately the rest of the syrup turned out to be just fine. I'll try again later today - I have one more bucket of sap to boil down. All I need is a cup of maple-y goodness and then I'll be making this again.

Happy Tuesday everyone - have you found the tart of your dreams?

As a Hendrix fan, I've wanted to comment on this post just to show my appreciation for the little pun.
And I like pie.
I've been a bit on edge lately.

Also, this would so enhance your coffee drinking experience in the morning. Perhaps a bold dark blend. Oh heck, you pecanless pie would even make Grandma's Sanka taste good!
