Here in The Good Land I made my place beside the still waters. I became a tiller of the soil, a keeper of the flocks, and a hater of pigs.
Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.
Hee hee! It was just like milking a goat... only better ;-)
The great news is that while I was off "cheating" on the goats, The Big Man was home milking our ladies... even Little Nibbles! With his huge ham-sized hands he said that neither of them were happy when it was over.. but he got the job done.
It seems you have lived one of your fantasy's. The poor goats will only notice the far off look in your eyes that replaced the sparkle once reserved only for them (and unknownst to them the Meeps) and wonder what happened to their OFG.
Twow old sayings come to mind; "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free", and "A goat (teet) in the hand is worth two in the bush." I'm not exactly sure how they apply but they seem to go with the theme of the original post.
In my previous life I was a fussy, type-a tech gal..and now.. now here I am in the flyover zone on a farm. I gave up my Big Life and I became a tiller of the soil, a keeper of the flocks, and a hater of pigs.
