Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. Sunflowers!

Dontcha just love sunflowers?

The BOSS (black oil sunflower seed) sunflowers that I planted with clover in the front of the property are doing great! These will be cut and dried for chicken snacks this winter. I wish I could have a whole field of them....I'm working on it!

**** Stay tuned for hot weather poultry tips - yesterday we didn't get inside until after 9pm. Until I can get my act together, here's another short version for you.

Keep those water buckets full and those fans going - we are expected to have a heat index of between 105* - 110*!!!

Stay cool!

Pretty flowers..we came close to purchasing a small oil press and growing the black seed sunflowers for oil...maybe next year. I have some cool rainy weather that I have been trying to blow your way but I see it has not mad it yet.

Nice sunflowers! We planted some seeds from a bag of bird seed, and some even grew, but nothing is flowering yet. Like you, ours will be chicken treats...seemed like a good idea, anyhow...
