Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

We had ribs. You?

Hope everyone had a great holiday! We are ribs - they were awesome.  Behold, meat as its intended to be:

Ribs and smokey beans...that's the way, baby!

We are huge fans of Steven Raichlen. That guy knows meat, for sure. We love his shows on PBS and have a couple of his books. The ribs we made were his whiskey-butter-something-and-something. By the time we snarfed these babies down, with smokey beans and cornbread, we were in a BBQ coma. But we are professionals so we finished off the day with blueberry cobbler. And ice cream.

Hope you had a great 4th! Anybody else make ribs? Makes you wanna go and get some pigz, don't it? (Do it! Its totally worth it! Even all the stinkin'!)

We soooo had ribs, and pulled pork. I made ice cream but it didn't freeze up in time. I had some for breakfast today instead!

Yes I want pigs, I said it. I'm not ashamed.

Hey Mr. H! Sounds heavenly. My Tomatillos are bangin right now - we are gonna have a huge harvest. I didnt love my salsa from last year. I think it needed more zing.

Yum, yum, yum. It makes me feel like cooking on an open fire with John Wayne!

Hi Ginny! It was so darn good. And I love beans, for sure.

Jody, the only thing that was missing was making s'mores. But even I had to admit defeat and push back from the table.

Had Ribs on Friday. Slipped with the cleaver and took a good part of my left thumb and thumbnail off, but we ate the ribs anyway. Wife thinks I'm wierd for taking pictures. Had a great Independence Day with friends and managed to get the day off work. Life is good.

Dear Stubby, way to take one for the team! Sorry about the thumb. I've got a knife store that will curl your hair - so I'm feeling your pain. I'll be those ribs were extra good! Did you post pix somewhere??
