Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

That's one crazy parsnip

Omg, this blog cracks me up, but that parsnip (hand?) is hilarious!!! Love this blog, and your dinner the other night sounded absolutely delish. I found myself wondering what I had in the house that I could 'render down' into some kind of golden liquid fat goodness... Mmm...

You need to look around the barnyard and see if anyone has a hole in their chest....

Better carry "foxkiller" hatchet for a few days, just in case!

Ah yes, Mr. H.. the venerated parsoctopus which trolls the shallows of my bad soil.... sheesh!

THANKS Jenn! Glad you reading - and yep. Once you start rendering your own fat you wont go back to corn oil. Ever. I have on the store right now some duck stuck that has a nice rich layer of fat just waiting for some taters.

Careful, Vickie! Don't look directly at it... hee hee hee

Thanks CC, now I'll be afraid to go out into the garden. Because you know.. in the garden, no one can hear you scream. Ha!

That one is certainly very spunky looking. I've had my fair share in the past, but not one with so much character.

hi Shaheen! Me and the dogs just stood around lookin' at it after I pulled it up. It was kinda creepy for sure.
