Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

This Could Be It

Our hot and weird weather finally broke last nite... this could be it. Our first frost is usually within a couple weeks and altho there is not a frost/freeze warning for this next week... I'm pretty sure we are at the end of summer.

Our dahlias are enjoying the last of the good weather. But everything else is about winding down.

I have to say, I'm about ready for a break in the action.

Happy Monday everyone!

You and me both! Been fun sorting the harvest out, but glad to see the last of the tomatoes, beetroot, onions, carrots, etc safely into jars!

Can't say I'm not jealous, its 30 degC here (86F) and we've been out doing fencing and concreting. Upside is our neighbour dug out a spring in our paddock and we've found that its perfect for swimming after a hot day of work. Maybe this summer won't be so bad after all...

we are up to 52 quarts of bean canned from our late patch of green beans. They have been beautiful as the bugs got full on the first beans we planted early in the summer!

Not quite ready to fire up the wood stove though. Pressing on picking and canning more beans!

Love all the pretty flowers. We have nothing with color at this point. Was just too dry this summer.
