Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

Economic woes take their toll on Nicholas: Hard Day #4

The events of yesterday and the lingering exhaustion over the debt ceiling debate have left Nicholas exhausted. It was a hard day indeed, the fourth of 3 previous very hard days.

Nicholas hasn't moved from here since yesterday - except to eat and chase Little Mo

At this writing he's still in the same spot - on the counter - asleep, with eyes about half open, and paws chasing a dream mouse. While he's glad our not-so-super-Congress got their act together to resolve the FAA funding issue....he's resting up to see what new hell will happen after the opening bell for the Markets today.

Chin up, Nicholas, today may be our best day yet! If not, we're just gonna keep on keepin' on. And if nothing else, I'll come inside when we hit a heat index of 100* and we'll finish reorganizing the kitchen.

Wait! Is he getting up? No... just rolling over.

Onward and upward, folks! Now get out there, do some gardening, put up some tomato sauce, and fry yourself up a big slab of ham for supper. Least ways, that's what I'm gonna do.

I was going to go out and tidy up the much neglected perennial beds this morning....but, I think that Nicholas' idea is a much better one!

That was quite a dip in the markets yesterday it will be interesting to see what happens this morning. Gold is sky high, stocks have gone no where since 2000, interest rates (cd's) stink...now I know why people bury their money in the back yard. But the garden is still producing and the hens are laying, if I could just get them to lay golden eggs...maybe I need a goose for that:)

Looks about like what our cats were doing yesterday. Stock market tanking? Let's take a nap!

Looks like Nicholas has the right idea. But I like your ham idea too!
