Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

What $400 worth of fun looks like...

Behold. Gravel....
Does that look like 15 tons to you?

I tell you the truth. I've spent way more money on way more stupid stuff and my confession to you is this... I love gravel. Diamonds? Nope. The only rocks I want are 57 limestone dumped in a big pile. Whooot!

A rare self portrait of a girl and her gravel

We have a couple drainage projects that we need to work on.  The gravel guy finally showed up this  morning. The Big Man is on his way to get a trencher. I'm strengthening myself by eating a pan of brownies and a huge brunch of root veggies and smoked duck. As soon as he gets back the shoveling will commence. Of course this would be much easier if we had a loader but we'll make do with a whole lot of hard work and swearing. My arms may be too tired to post tomorrow but today we shovel!

Happy Saturday everyone! Are you all having a glorious sunny fall day like we are? Wow!

People pay lots of money to join a club or gym. You've got gravel!

You may want to have an extra piece of brownie or hunk of duck skin just in case.....shoveling is really hard work.

Oh my goodness, it's nice to know that OURS isn't the only gravel guy hard to reach! I'm glad I didn't spend the day shoveling, but I'm glad you got it!

Ok, I snorted a little when I read how you were strengthening yourself...Great minds. PS, now you have to do a post on how to smoke a duck (I'm sure there are 10,000 jokes there.)

Brownies- snacks of champions! I smoothed some dirt out this weekend, but that's nothing compared to a pile of gravel!

At this rate, Ginny, I could probably carry one of them pigz myself.
