Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

Six more weeks.....

Last night the weather guy said that the next six weeks are going to be colder and snowier than the last six weeks...
If I were really arty I'd have a clever caption about how I feel like this feather trapped in winter.  But I'm not.

No one is happy about this forecast.  At all.

So I propose that the rest of the winter be brought to you by the letter "S:"

Snow

Sulking

Sloth

Today will be spent by the fire sulking and eating Oreos. Mostly I will be working on my sloth altho there will be periods of standing by the window looking out in despair, shaking my fist at the weather guy, and finally accepting that I'll be trapped in the house until the end of February.

Anybody else stuck in the winter doldrums? How are you coping? Oreos anyone?

I don't have any Oreos (which is probably a very good thing) but I ate so many chocolate chip cookies yesterday I had a stomach ache!!

You have really been getting hit hard out there.

I think that if I have any more cookies...I will have to start wearing a MooMoo :)

Just got back in from wading through all this snow and I read this! You sure know how to make a guy feel better. I'm reminded of why we decided no new piggies til at least March.

I was so hoping for an early spring...darn it. I'm spending the next weeks swearing, probably. LOL

Yep, we are stuck. Jon took the 4 wheel drive to work and based on the conditions of the roads, the kids and I are housebound for the next three days.

Thanks VRT! I think we are all in for it.. ugh!

hi BABL! Cookies are the only cure. Keep eating!

Robin, see above... and we'll all just work it off in the spring! ha!

Oh we were out there too, David. I had to shovel the snow just to get the gates open. And then I feel into a heap. Dog#1 had to get me up. Sheesh! We were at -7* when we were out. Boo!

Swear away, Heather. I know I will be. Dingdang snow!

I'm figuring at least 2 days, Sara... hopefully we will make it to church on Sunday. Any longer than that and we'll have to lash up the dogs and mush to the store for more Oreos!

So I get the feeling you don't care for snow all that much... It was the part about you shaking your fist at the weather guy that clued me in.:) Our snow has turned to icy rain...blah!

You can hop on a plane and head out here to Oregon! No snow and mid-50's...plus cute little lambs to snuggle. Ok, I'm probably not helping, better go eat a few more oreos. I definitely would not make it through a winter there.

At least the Sun is shinning here today to half way cheer us up. I don't have oreo, and for me that;s a good thing. I do have a pound cake, that ran my B/S up with one small slice (I thought the slice was small). Anyway I'm not giving up my Coke Zero yet. Ginny

I am really tired of winter and the cold! I will join you with the Oreo's!

Mr. H, you know how people watch sports and yell at the tv? I do that to the weather guy. I'm sure he's a nice man but lately he's been receiving the business end of my snow rage.

50* AND cute lambs?! I'll be right there kenleigh! Man... days like this I miss the marine layer and soggy days....

Ginny, your smile is sunny enough for me! I'd love some pound cake so I'll come visiting to see it again...

Come on in, WCG! In honor of our current Hoth-like conditions we are watching The Empire Strikes back. I'll be riding my Tauntaun out for chores.

Pass the oreos! I am in survival mode with 60 cm of snow on the ground, and the last 10 days below -20C

So I guess this is a bad place and time to complain about it getting to 28* tonight? :)

I usually have trouble in winter, but since we are actually getting SNOW instead of MUD, I'm doing ok this year. I can handle cold and snow, but I hate hate hate the mud mud mud! Mud is what we've had the most of the last 4 winters, so I hate to complain. We got 6 inches Wednesday night and Thursday and are s'pose to get another inch tonight.

Coincidentally, I just posted about this very thing today. I call it Blackrock Fever. And it's not going away anytime soon. Currently 10 degrees with a howling wind blowing drifts of snow over anything that's stationary, with colder and windier weather forecast.

AND, I have no Oreos. Maybe I can sulk enough to get the MiL to make me some cookies . . .

Perfect timing, I was just telling the Commander yesterday that I had a bad case of the blahs.

Today the Commander brought me home a pecan pie, and since I am the only one here who likes pecans it looks like it is going to be me, a fork, and the pie by the fire!

My golly, Ian! You need an extra helping with that cold! Yikes!

Oh NO, Lori, we'd love to hear about your 'heat wave.' Here, please hold OD our demon gander. He loves to snuggle. HA! (just kiddin' baby! stay warm!)

GW, we are on our way down to 0* tonite... brrrrrrr....

Sulk away, Kristen, we all need cookies, for sure.

hey CC! I'll trade you some oreos for some pecan pie?!?! How low did you go? All they are talking about is International Falls and the -46*!!! My golly keep all your critters warm!

Lori said...

HAHA heat wave? I'm thinking they should declare it a state emergency that it is below freezing!

Talk to the paw, Lori. ha!

Oh man, I feel your pain. It's so cold and we have at least a month and a half left. Oreos sound like an awesome way to cope. Ooh, maybe I'll try to look for a homemade sandwich cookie recipe to keep me busy since we don't have any Oreos in the house!

Ohiofarmgirl said...

No oreos! Golly, KatieG, I thought that FEMA recommended them in their emergency winter preparedness documentation...
