Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

#nevergiveupneversurrender

I am the last person to let go of summer. Fall-schmall..... love the color October? No. I love summer. Sum-sum-summertime. I will wear shorts until the snow flies. I will never willingly embrace stupid fall or gleefully skip around yelling, "Winter is coming!" like someone I know.

This is not me.

So all y'all have absolutely no proof that this was actually me sitting by the fire yesterday. None. Zero. I don't know who those dogs are but they are not Kai and Zander.

I don't know who's nose that is. But I smooched it. I mean... "someone" smooched it.

Yesterday's super-sucky rain and 40*-ish windchill made everyone unhappy. But this week we are going to have beautiful, warm, sunny, 70* days and mild evenings. I might even need to turn on the air conditioning.

It's still summer. I will never give up! Never surrender!

That is all.

We are not surrendering to winter either, which I proved when I was outside in the veg plot this morning still in sort of summer clothes. I am not shivering at the moment, I really am not....well alright, I am.....the weather has turned damp and chilly this afternoon, and if we had a log burning fire to light we would....not that it is you sitting in front of that lovely fire with those dogs who look similar to yours...almost twins.......I am just saying that if we had a fire we would light it! But we haven't, so I shall just have to put a thick cardigan on to stay warm.....but not thermals yet....oh no, not thermals!!! That would make winter feel far too close!!!!

After 9 days without sun I finally have a fire going with what dry wood I could find. Now the damp would is burning as well so the house will soon warm up some. Probably over a foot of rain but I haven't checked lately, not much need to carry water to the animals but they say sun will be back maybe tomorrow.

We've got the kitchen stove alight - but only to make jam and chutney you understand...not because it's cold and raining...and the cats are only in as they can't find any mice outside, and today's squash soup was delicious, not because I'm fed up with salad...

Somehow, I have this picture in my mind of a lady sitting on a big white horse, both in full armor, with a long lance in her hand, charging at a windmill! Darn, how do I get rid of this picture? Winter is coming, Suck it up, buttercup! :-] (Just kidding, I think.)
