Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

War Cry

This young goatie is practicing his war cry so that one day he may ride with me to glory.....

Or maybe he just wanted me to put him down. Either way - isn't he a scream? This is one of the Nibblers. We can't believe Nibs is still taking care of them. She might get a better parking spot and a slight raise for her efforts. She's really showing some dedication to the team.

Yesterday it was supposed to rain - but it didn't. The good news is that I got another 15 pounds of potatoes planted - Red Pontiac and Irish Cobbler. The bad news is... we really need it to rain. Hopefully today..

Happy Thursday everyone!

About how many pounds of potatoes do you plant per year, and does it cover your needs?

isnt he funny, Dave? we finally got some rain..whew!

hi Mark- goats have weird eyes - the iris is horizontal.

thanks WCG! they are just hilarious and have tons of energy.

Diana - dunno... we eat what we have rather than plant for our needs (does that make sense?)... plus there is only 2 of us. i have a pal with 2 kids and they plant about 100lbs of taters per year which usually covers their needs.

Makes perfect sense. 100 lbs though, daaaang! I think I planted maybe 6 pounds? Lol! Thanks for the info, and I forgot to say how cute the goatie is!

CC - he was either saying VLAD or "Leeeroy Jenkins!"
