Ohiofarmgirl's Adventures in The Good Land is largely a fish out of water tale about how I eventually found my footing on a small farm in an Amish town. We are a mostly organic, somewhat self sufficient, sustainable farm in Ohio. There's action and adventure and I'll always tell you the truth about farming.

Happy Pie Day! Something new and....comments.

Well here's an interesting development. Apparently I've used up all my photo storage space on the free Google. The Google said I had to buy something.  So I gotta figure something else out. I'm a little flummoxed to tell you the truth. I had a whole other post ready.

[No picture here cuz I can't upload one. Dang!]

So let's do this while I try and sort out how its now gonna cost me money to keep on blogging....

First, I'd like to wish everyone a happy pie day! Yep this is the day that everyone does their baking for the big Turkey Day extravaganza. Do you have your bake on? Whatcha making?

Next, this has kinda been rolling around in my head for a while so I think I'm just gonna blurt it out. I absolutely love my blog pals. I love hearing about your lives, your successes, and all of us cheering each other on. Whether you are a professional herdsman, farmer, just starting out, or just a wanna be homesteader I really enjoy hearing about everyone's lives. So the comments and emails I get are truly appreciated.

And.

Sometimes I get some crazy comments and way off emails. Not often. But sometimes. So here's the thing, if you don't like this blog then don't read it. I'm only gonna drive you more crazy and bashing your head against the "you're doing it wrong" rock will only make your life shorter. We like the way we do things and it works for us. If it doesn't work for you then that's fine. But if you want to come here to troll or fight just take your kind of crazy somewhere else. Not only will I not publish your comment, I'll make fun of you to my friends.

Some people like controversy and fighting. I don't. If you think I'm wrong then fine. I'm clear on your position and I'm still not going to publish your comment. Don't like my chickens? That's fine. Don't like my friends, cats, or my spelling? That's fine too.

This goes for "the facebook" too. If you go to my page just to fight with me or my friends I'll just keep deleting your posts. If you wonder what happened to your comment you may want to think about what you said before you keep trying to post it. It will just keep getting deleted. More often then not I'll contact you directly and let you know why. But if you're just trolling then I won't bother.

Here's why -  if you took everyone I knew and stuck them in a room they'd probably have nothing in common..... but me. I know, and love, a huge range of people from every point on every spectrum. I may not agree with everything about you, but there is probably one thing that I really love, admire, or respect and that is good enough for me.

So if you throw some kind of strong comment out there it will probably splash up, unkindly, on someone I know. That's why I'm not publishing it. Me? You can call me names all day and I'll just think you are ridiculous.  But if you have something unkind to say about anyone it will probably affect someone I care about. So that's why I keep a tight rein on the comments.

So in the spirit of tomorrow's big Turkey Day I just want to say how thankful I am for all of you. Thank you for your hilarious tales, ridiculous stories, constant encouragement, well wishes, well timed advice, and those deeply personal, extremely touching emails and notes.

Happy Pie Day everyone - now go and make pie all day, hug your loved ones, and get your fat pants ready for tomorrow!

Woohoo! My FAVORITE DAY! I will be baking pumpkins here soon, for the pumpkin pie....then, I will be in an apple peeling flurry...for apple pie and apple pie cookies. My grandson LOVES apple pie cookies. The big old bird is resting quietly in the kitchen, waiting for his(or her I can't remember) final hoorah tomorrow afternoon. This bird and I will work together to get the most treasured sounds from friends and family any woman can get....BURP! :) And, even tho the bird will be the main attraction...the pig will get a little poke in there too...yes, there will be bacon, of course! Maybe not a whole lot....but, there is always room for bacon. Wishing you and your crowd a Happy Thanksgiving. May your seams in your britches be stressed to show how you are truly blessed! Gobble till you wobble!

Your blog...your rules!

No baking here today - Mom is bringing whatever dessert we're having.

No turkey here tomorrow. We're having a rolled venison roast and a pork roast. Dad is digging the fresh carrots today. My 9-year-old is going to make some bread in the bread machine, so I guess someone is baking.

So, a table full of home canned goodies like pickled peaches, pickled pears, jalapeno pickles, regular garlic dills, apple cherry cranberry chutney, cinnamon apple rings, dilly beans and whatever else I can dig up.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I honestly don't understand trolls or whatever you call the mean-spirited commenters. I mean, really? You have nothing better to do than bash or name call or rip on someone else and how they do things? People need something more creative to do with that energy. Not only that, but those same people normally don't even have the guts to say something like that to a REAL person. Talk about cowards.

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy all that PORK!

Ah, I remember several years back when I ran out of room on WordPress & PhotoBucket. That's when I turned around and started mooching off of a computer genius brother of mine who set up a server-host gadget doohickey thingamajigger. Now he hosts all of my pics and blogs -- for years now.

Got any genius relatives you can mooch off of?

Also, those freebie pic hosting places will eventually delete your pics once you're no longer in there messing with stuff. I found that out the hard way. Good thing I'd moved all of the old pics to the Brother Host in one batch. I still have to go back through and fix all of the individual links in the blog posts but at least I have them.

OFG, You are the second one in two weeks to have come up against the Google "basket full"... and she had to buy storage. Because of her problem, I started eliminating as many pictures as I could but still keep things viable... your post was well-said and I hope you have a good Thankgsiving!

Lana at Farm Life Lessons did a post about copying photos and then paste into blog I think she had to do it from Word or Powerpoint and copy to actual size before resizing. I have not tried it yet.

So sorry to hear your getting negative comments. Don't know why some people do what they do. I really enjoy reading your blog especially our animal stories. Hope you'll continue and have a great Thanksgiving.

OMG! I just noticed my comment didn't get published! Is it me?

I'm blushing, do I need to go sit in the box of shame?

Wait....is this you Nicholas? Are you editing the comment section?

Let me know how you solve the out of space thing! I just left you a comment on my blog about it.

Someone told me to try Photobucket or Webshots. They are free online albums. You will have to play around figuring out how to link to them, but that will let them host your pictures and not Google /Blogger /Picasa. I haven't done it yet, I'm, waiting for you to give it a try and let me know! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Now I'm going to go have some pie!

* Deep in his lair Nicholas rubs his paws together and says to himself... "Ha ha! Now that I have control over these so called "comments" I can move forward with my plan to take control of the empire! I'll show that Chai Chai who is boss.... and then ...and then.... muuahhaaawawawawaaa" *

Lynn, thanks so much! I'll see what I can figure out. I saw on one of the links you had that if you sign up for Google+ you can get more storage? I might see what that is about. THANKS!!!
